FAQs
What happens after I request a prescription?

Once you have requested a prescription, they are then assessed by a Veterinary Surgeon and prescribed at the vet’s discretion. Once prescribed and dispensed, these medications are then checked by another member of the clinical team. We will contact you by phone or email to advise when a prescription is ready to collect.
How long until I receive my pet’s prescription?
2
We kindly ask that you please allow 72 hours for us to process requests. This allows us to assess if the medication is still appropriate, if a check-up is required and also to order the medication should we need to. On occasion, some types of drugs may take longer due to the supply of medication; please ensure that you always order well in advance to ensure that you do not run out of medicine. Please note: we have no control over supply from our veterinary wholesalers.
Why have I been contacted to bring my pet for a prescription review?

Most medications that we dispense are ‘Prescription Only Medications’ (POMs), which means that they can only be prescribed by a Veterinary Surgeon, following a clinical assessment of the animal that is under their care. All patients on long-term medications require regular check-ups for their conditions; we will contact you if/when this check-up is due. This appointment ensures your pet is under our care and allows us to also assess, monitor and discuss any side effects, dose adjustments or new treatment regimes. To ensure that we are compliant with our legal requirements, our policy is to examine animals requiring prescriptions every 3-6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. For preventative parasite treatment, we are happy to dispense if we have examined your pet within the last 12 months and a prescription exists.
